I have always loved Balmain for its edgy approach to style. For this 2013 resort collection, Olivier Rousteing added a sweet, fun and happy approach while maintaining the sexy edge style that defined Balmain while under Christophe Decarnin.
The pleated cuffed pants, diamond shaped prints, strips and the long blazers adds an edge to the looks.
This collection reminds me of Rihanna’s style in the ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ era. I definitely see her, Solange Knowles and Gwen Stefani mixing some of these pieces for an event or red carpet. Also, I see a bit of Christine Centenera and Taylor Tomasi Hill in some of these pieces especially the strip pants and the dresses.
