Happy New Year! Just like that we’re the new 2021 has begun. Coming from a hectic 2020, I am sure a lot of you are ready for a fresh start in the new year. With so much that has happened in 2020, we all need these 5 tips for a fresh start in the new year. It is time for a new beginning on a clean slate. One thing I have learnt from the previous years is there’s nothing as important as surrounding yourself with family and loved ones. Also, it is ok to start afresh in the new year in whatever capacity that fits your current situation.
The beginning of each year brings a renewed optimism for change. There’s this renewed energy for wanting to change for better. With this energy, we are able to bring about change and reinvent our lives. If we have learnt anything from last year, it is that anything can happen at anything with little to no notice. So, when we have this optimism for change, embrace it, apply it because anything is possible.

5 Tips for a Fresh Start in the New Year
- Know what matters most: In life, we are able to prioritize and decide what matters the most to us. Whether it is family, your business or your health, when we know what matters the most, we can decide which of these things takes precedence.
- Put away distraction: This year, try to put away any distraction to achieving your goals and focus on things that truly matter. Social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, Pinterest) can be a good thing , but can also be a big distraction if you are not able to manage your time wisely. If possible, schedule a timeframe daily where you shut off your phone, computer for at least an hour and focus on yourself and well being.
- Let Go: This is easier said than done especially after a hectic 2020. To be able to start a fresh in the new year, you have to let go of things that are holding you back. There’s this saying that goes, out with the old, in with the new. Let go of old bagages and start afresh.
- Continue to learn: In every area of our life, it is paramount to continue to learn. For instance, I am constantly learning to be a better person; how to be a better blogger, content creator and influencer.
- Develop an attitude of being grateful: “Remember how blessed you are no matter what is happening to you.” This was a quote I shared a few days ago on my Instagram. Having an attitude of gratitude is very important for our health and next endeavours.
