Vacation Recap: Bermuda

Today's post is a recap of our family vacation to Bermuda, our choice location to spend the Christmas holiday. It was our first visit and I will confess that it was truly a beautiful island. There was a calm and reserved atmosphere and we met lots of nice and friendly people. Our vacation was during the off-season so it was not crowded but at times, the weather was chilly in the morning and evening but we enjoyed days of 70 degree temps.

Travel: The direct flight to Bermuda is about 2 hrs. from Philadelphia. To avoid connecting flights (because of our 3 year old), we thought it was best to drive to Philadelphia and depart from there.

Traveling with a toddler: Pack their favorite snacks in a carry on.  Nolan’s snacks and activity books were packed in his Dusty plane rolling luggage. Although the trip was short, having snacks and activities to keep him busy was great. Some of the things we packed include Stonyfield yogurt, Apple sauce, Pretzels and fruit snacks. We also packed his Mickey mouse coloring book, crayons, lots of stickers and his Kindle. His kindle has his Mickey mouse show and educational apps.

Hotel: We stayed at the Hamilton Princess and Beach Club Bermuda, which is right by the harbor. The hotel has a very classy feel to it and it reminded me of our stay at The Kahala Hotel in Hawaii. At the Hamilton Princess, kids under 6 years old eat free (amazing). The hotel is not located close to a beach but they provide free shuttles to their own private beach located about 15 minutes away. The hotel is great and sophisticated and their holiday decorations were beautiful. On Christmas Day, they had Santa Claus show up for the kids. You can imagine Nolan's face when he saw Santa...priceless!

Food: Most of our food was from the hotel’s restaurants i.e. Crown and Anchor and the Marcus restaurant. We enjoyed the brunch at the Crown and Anchor but I wish they had more offerings.

Activities/Beach: We wanted a relaxing vacation, so we didn't do a lot during our stay. We spent majority of our time at the hotel’s pool, Hamilton Beach Club and Horseshoe beach.  The Hamilton Beach Club is exclusive to guests of the hotel while the Horseshoe beach is open to the public. The Horseshoe beach is a very popular tourist spot known for its pale pink sandy beach and blue water. There are a couple of restaurants a walking distance from the beach, but we didn't get a chance to try any. The hotel's beach is calm and provides you with towels and canopies for free. There's also a playground for kids which Nolan loved. We planned on taking a ferry ride but we were too exhausted after walking through Hamilton street -  beautiful and picturesque.

I stayed at the Hamilton for NYE vacation. I loved it. Especially Marcus. Best meals ever! And you were right about the weather. I didn't know it would be so chilly during the nights. We rented a scooter to explore the island and made the mistake of not bringing jackets. But overall we had a great time. I love all your pics and outfits!
