Chic's Wish

Happy Friday friends!!! It was love at first sight with this Chicwish skirt. I particularly like the blend of bright and subtle colors - one of those prints that can be transitioned easily from summer to fall outfits. For this look, I went with a bit of both worlds i.e. summer and fall.

For styling, I enjoy mixing prints and patterns. For the pieces on this post, I used navy blue as a common color. I paired the skirt with a navy stripe crop top that complements the navy shades on the skirt.  I went for a darker lipstick to bring the whole ensemble together and completed the look with dark pumps. This is my fall approach to print styling.
Have a great and lovely Labor Day weekend.

What I Am Wearing:
Chicwish skirt (c/o here) // Top (sold out, similar here) // Christian Louboutin pigalle pumps (similar "So Kate" here, budget friendly here or here) // MAC Lipstick Rebel and RubyWoo mix (here & here)

In Stripes

This summer, skater skirts and peplum hem skirts were my favorite styles. I have had the skirt on this post for about 2 years and I love the structure and fun feel.

I wore it to The Urban Marketplace (TUM) event and you can check out my Instagram to see a casual take to styling this skirt.

I originally planned to wear the skirt with a denim shirt but changed my mind at the last minute. The stripped shirt gives the whole outfit a pop of color and I rolled up the sleeves for a relaxed feel. I completed the outfit with my red pumps.

What I Am Wearing:
Skirt (here, similar here) // Zara shirt (old, similar here) // Gianvito Rossi pumps (sold out in red, different color here, affordable style here) // Ray ban sunglasses (here) // MAC lipstick (here) // OPI Nail polish (here)

Lust List: Burgundy Trend

Lust List: Burgundy

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

This week's lust list is all about my favorite fall color - burgundy. As fall approaches, I find myself searching not only for fall pieces, but for burgundy colored items. The color is sophisticated, vibrant and a great addition to any fall wardrobe.

There are several ways you can incorporate burgundy into you fall/winter styles. Check out some of my prior outfits centered around the color here, here and here.

This burgundy leather skirt is my current fall lust. I see myself pairing it with this stripe shirt or going tonal with this neutral shirt. I love high heels but these Rockstud flats are unique and different. If you are not into flats, you can try the heel version here.

What are your thoughts on the color burgundy?

Work Style: Floral + Stripes

Hi everyone! Happy Monday! Hope you all had a great weekend. I had a fun and relaxing weekend which included Nolan’s playdate. It is always awesome getting together with friends whose kids are about the same age as Nolan. He had so much fun staying up late playing and of course, he woke up very late the following morning.

Today's work style is an infusion of color and print. It is always great to keep work styles fun and classy. They don’t have to be monochrome or neutral colors. A bit of color and print adds unique twists to daily work wears.

On this post, I paired a floral print skirt with a light blue shirt. Light blue/stripe shirts are unique ways of mixing prints and patterns especially when in doubt. They give unique feelings to any ensemble. I completed the look with black accessories.

What I Am Wearing:
Zara skirt (sold out, try this here & here) // H&M shirt (similar here & here) // Christian Louboutin pumps (here, budget friendly here) // Ray ban sunglasses (here) // Aldo bag (old, try this here)

Happy Friday beautiful people! This post takes me back to our vacation in Mexico and the beautiful Paradisus hotel -- I definitely recommend a visit. I wore this H&M flared skirt on our last day in Playa del Carmen for a dinner date with hubby at the Fuego restaurant.

The hunt for this dress is interesting. I saw an online preview months earlier but the time I tried to purchase, it was sold out. The H&M store in my area carried a different "flared dress" and I hoped there will be an online restock. I bookmarked the page and refreshed my browser several times hoping for a size 4. I had to get a size 6 as that seemed to be the only one available at the time. It required minor adjustments but I am glad.

The print of the dress is awesome and it reminds me of African print fabrics which I love.  Also the full flared skirt is simply fun. I paired it with beige pumps which complement the gorgeous print.

What I Am Wearing:

Love these dresses...

What To Wear: Fashion Meeting

What To Wear: Fashion Meeting

Crop Top || Skirt || Bag || Pumps || Lipstick

Fashion week is less than a month away and the weather will probably be cooler. This outfit is a perfect summer/fall mix.

The crop top keeps the memories of summer while the sleeves provide warmth during colder evenings. It is a great outfit to stay stylish and at the same time, classy for a fashion meeting. What do you think?

Have a wonderful day!

Pink Shades

I know you are probably saying, “another peplum hem skirt again”...haha! I can't seem to get over my love for them. I guess if you find something that works for you and you love it, why stop, right?!
This is not the first time I am wearing this skirt. I paired with a tee here and last winter, with a pink coat here. I love the fit and the feminine and classy style.  I have added this new color to my collection...yep, I did it again ;)
For this look, I went with different shades of pink by pairing a pale pink Topshop crop top over the skirt’s pink tone. I completed the look with my Gianvito Rossi fushica pumps.
What I am Wearing:
Asos skirt (here, other colors on sale here & here) // Topshop crop top (old, similar here, try this here) Gianvito Rossi pumps (here, different color here, Try this here, budget friendly here) // Lipstick (here) // Sunglasses (here)

Stella's Lust List: Fall Needs

Stella's Lust List: Fall Needs

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

Fall season is around the corner and stores are stocking up on fall items. I am excited about the new fall pieces and I am ready to get cozy in them.

Capes are items that I can't wait to incorporate into my fall style. This Chloe cape is very chic and I love the neutral tone mix. I also have my eyes on the budget friendly versions here and here. They will look great worn casually or when paired with jeans or chunky knits or over sleeved dresses for night outs.

Other fall wishes for me are brogues, leather and culottes. A big trend I foresee this fall/winter will be male inspired brogues and oxfords . I have been a great fan and since I have my one-year-old son to run around with, it is a great way to stay stylish and chic without the heels.

What are your fall needs?

Maxine Dress

Hi everyone! Happy Monday! What a great weekend! There is nothing more beautiful than spending quality time with family and loved ones. At times, I wish there was a day between Saturday and Sunday. :)

On Saturday, I took Nolan to a friend's daughter’s first birthday party which was fun. I got to meet other moms and it was amazing how much time we spent talking about our kids i.e. eating habits, schedules and school searches. Yep, school season is around the corner and in few weeks my baby Nolan will be starting school. I have started making a "back-to-school" list and fall pieces for him. I will be sharing some of the items on my list and where to shop for kids...and fall items for adults. On Sunday, after church, hubby, Nolan and I went out for lunch. The highlight of the day was Nolan’s funny reaction to the hibachi fire flame and he refused to seat on a booster seat for the remaining part of the night. Hubby had to carry him on his laps…

In this post, I am wearing a Virgos Lounge dress. I have a soft spot for maxi dresses and this Virgos Lounge dress is no exception. From the warm color to the intricate embroidery and fit, it is very hard not to fall in love with this dress. The embroidery makes the need for accessories very minimal.

What I am Wearing:
Virgos Lounge dress (c/o here, similar here) // River Island sandal (sold out, similar here) // Ray ban MAC Lipstick -- two colors combined (here & here) // Ray ban sunglasses (here)

Prior to visiting Mexico, I heard so many great things about what Tulum had to offer i.e. the ruins and beaches.  A couple of days after our arrival at Playa del Carmen, we went on a  day tour of Tulum, which was about an hour from our hotel -Paradisus Playa del Carmen.

The Tulum ruins are the most important archaeological sites in the Quintana Roo State. They overlook the beach including the giant pyramid-shaped Castillo. The architecture resembles that of Chichen Itza, which we also visited. Our tour guide took us to the pyramids and later, we went to the beautiful beach. I definitely recommend a visit to Tulum so you too can experience the history of the Mayans.

Surf Skirt

Hello beautiful people and hope your week has been great. In a couple of months, it will be Fall and I have been noticing many cute and fun sweaters such as JCrew’sheart and cable knit sweaters. I am looking forward to wearing capes and oversized coats. I particularly love this Chloe cape  and the color of this Sessun Reina cape poncho coat.

I am still enjoying the remaining summer months and my recent obsession with skater skirts like this JCrew surf skirt. The fabric is comfy and the floral print is very pretty. I styled it with a plain Tee and accessorized with a statement necklace which complements the colors of the skirt. I completed the look with my beige Valentino Rockstud for a unique touch.

Have a great day!

Stella's Lust List: Beauty Edition

Stella's Lust List: Beauty Edition

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7

I am not a genius when it comes to choosing the best skin products. I always experiment hoping to find a perfect match. In the past, I have shared the products I use on a daily basis and I still look out for newer ones to try. I have a very oily skin and during the summer and in warm tropical areas, it becomes very visible.

Over the years, I have learnt some tips to maintain a healthy skin. The following usually work for me

  1. Drink up: I haven’t been a huge fan of soda, coffee etc as such, I always carry a bottle of water with me. At work, this helps me remain hydrated so please, drink up. Water is great for your skin.
  2. SPF: Years ago, my mom taught me the importance of always applying SPF moisturizers. Over the years, I have been using Neutrogena SPF 15 moisturizer and it has been great for my skin. I also heard great reviews about La Mer (a little pricey)…if you have used it, what do you think?
  3. Exercise: Exercising for me is to stay fit while maintaining good health. After having my baby, I have tried to maintain a three days exercise schedule which includes running, cardio and taking long walks.
  4. Diet: Eating healthy reflects heavily on my skin. I don’t obsess about calorie counts neither am I a food junkie. I try to include veggies and fruits in my daily meal plan. Lately, I have been eating lots of bananas, broccoli and mangoes. I craved mangoes a lot during my pregnancy and I am surprised that I still like it.
  5. Rest: This might be hard for many folks including my fellow working moms. However, a good sleep pattern is important for skin health. The more rested I am, the healthier my skin appears to be. I have observed that on days when I am so busy, stressed out with little sleep, my skin starts breaking out. I try as much as possible to rest so please get your beauty sleep!

Bright Print

Hi everyone! Happy Monday! Hope you all had a great weekend. I am back to reality...yep, my amazing vacation is over. If you follow me on Instagram, you have probably seen snap shots of activities I did while on vacation and how gorgeous Mexico looks. It was a wonderful getaway for hubby and I and we are happy to be back with Nolan who of course, was excited to see us.  I will be sharing the first part of my vacation before the end of the week, so please stay tuned ;)

I grew up in Nigeria and my love for Ankara materials and African prints stem from my background. I love the vibrant colors especially when incorporated with different styles. During the "TUM Event" last month, I fell in love with this design . The print sets go together or can be worn separately as seen on my Instagram page a few weeks ago (with a pair of jeans).

I accessorized with a gold choker and bracelet and completed the look with Sophia Webster PVC sling-backs, which has an orange tone that complements the print sets.

Over the seas...

Happy Wednesday! As you are reading this, hubby and I are air bound on a vacation to Mexico.

It is a much needed getaway in celebration of our love and our wedding anniversary. I am ready to relax, eat and enjoy all Mexico has to offer. You can follow me on Instagram as I document the trip. I have been so busy and unable to pack like I normally do as such, my bag for the trip is very light compared to previous trips (a pat on the back for me!)

We will definitely miss Nolan who is safely tucked in the company of two grandmas. This is the first time I will be away from my baby…. miss him already.

We are heading to “Playa del Carmen” and hoping to tour a couple of places including Tulum and Cozumel. I packed easy, breezy and comfortable outfits including a few fun prints (No heels...well, may be one!).

Here is a peak into more of what I am bringing along with me

Stella's Lust List #2

Stella's Lust List #2
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

This is another post of “Stella’s lust list” and today’s has a fusion of African and fall pieces. I love African prints and patterns; Stella Jean's & Jewel by Lisa's modern takes on styling African prints is awesome.

With fall around the corner, I am gravitating towards fall colors such as navy blue and cobalt as seen with the Sophia Hulme's bag and Manolo Blahnik pumps.

Got to run, last minute packing to do...have a wonderful day!

A special thank you to Nordstrom Pentagon City for allowing me to host the event - an amazing night. You can check out my Instagram for fun pictures and details from the event.

Today's post is simplicity around black and white. This Kate Spade dress does not require too much accessories. It is classy, simple and the addition of the side pockets add a fun twist to the dress. It can be easily dressed up with flats or worn with heels as paired in the post.  I completed the look with my Kate Spade pumps.

Another good thing about the dress? It is currently on sale including this version that I am drooling over. Have a great week guys
