Denim on Denim

Hi guys! Hope you are all doing great and ready for the super bowl weekend. Do you have any plans? For me, nothing planned, just me, my couch and a cup of hot chocolate since the cold weather continues.

Lately, you might have noticed more denim posts on my blog. I am a big fan of denim especially loose, baggy boyfriend (BF) jeans - great and comfy for weekends and casual outings. I am either mixing up my BF jeans with simple tees and brogues on weekends or pairing them with heels as worn on this post.
I love a relaxed and chic look and what better way to accomplish this than pairing denim on denim with a statement Kate Spade pumps and coat. To brighten up the whole outfit, I wore my Zara check print coat and matched with a two-toned purse.
On a different note, what will you like to see more of on this blog? Please, let me know and I look forward to your suggestions.
Stay warm and be safe and join me on Instagram for behind the scenes of my daily life. ;)

Emerald & Stripes

Hello everyone! How was your weekend and I hope the week started off great for you? I have been so busy at work lately and we have had lots of cold days. It feels like spring is ages away and I am crossing my fingers hoping for an early spring. Perhaps, the groundhog will predict along that line…
For this post, I gave a different spin to my emerald full skirt (previously seen here). Compared to the previous post in which I incorporated jewel tones, I opted for a more casual look this time with at stripe top. I kept the accessories at a minimal level and for a toned down effect, I wore my black pumps that complement the stripes of the top.

Giveaway: 4Moms RockaRoo

If you follow me on Instagram, you will probably know how obsessed I am with 4moms mamaRoo; but even more, I have found my latest obsession. Nolan loves it and Mama is a happy camper and able to do other activities. Since Nolan loves car movement or any type of motion, he is loving the new 4moms RokaRoo. Why swing when you can rock? Right? The rockaRoo flips the traditional swing on its head.  Literally.  It rocks like a rocking horse,  It features five speeds, an MP3 hook-up, and removable toy balls and Nolan is always trying to remove the toy balls.

Boyfriend & Baseball

Hi everyone! I hope you are having a great week. If you were plummeted with the snow, hope you are staying warm. I had an extended weekend as a result of the heavy snow which led to work closures. Everywhere is covered in snow which of course looks beautiful but I am ready for some warmth...can Spring get here soon?
The topic of this post is "Boyfriend & Baseball" - some of my favorite items for a casual day. “Boyfriend jeans” have been my casual chic style outside work. I love how boyfriend jeans can be casual with a tee or a bit dressed up with a button-down-shirt, blouse or blazer. On the other hand, a baseball cap is a great choice to complement any boyfriend jeans. Interestingly, in high school, my friends and I were obsessed with baseball caps. We would coordinate our outfits around the caps and match with baggy jeans (Aaliyah style). LOL!
I incorporated a fun and chic take to this post by pairing my boyfriend jeans with peplum top rolled-up-sleeves for a relaxed look and complemented with a leopard baseball cap - edgy appeal. Keeping the look fun, I wore my bright Sophia Webster pumps.

Pastel Pink

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend. I had the day off in honor of Martin Luther King's Jr. Day. I also spent the day playing with Nolan while catching up on reruns of my favorite shows from the Real Housewives to Shahs of Sunset... :)

Though it has been cold here, I am still embracing pastel colors, which is evident in my "Weekend Cravings" post (here). I love pastel and when I think of pastel colors, I envision spring flowers i.e. pale pink roses, tulips and peonies. For this post, I paired a pale pink suit with a pastel floral blouse from JCrew. The floral print adds a unique touch to the ensemble. Keeping everything fresh and in a springy mood, I finished the look with beige pumps and a bag. I am definitely looking forward to more outfit styling with pastel colors especially with the recent additions here and here.

Statement Check

Hi everyone, hope you are all doing great. It has been a busy workweek for me, so I am looking forward to a long weekend break and more time with hubby and baby Nolan. I can’t believe he will be 7 months tomorrow. My munchkin is growing so fast and is currently teething and enjoying his first stage baby foods. He has an undeniable love for bananas and apples…not so much for squashes. You should see his reaction when he tried squash for the first time…priceless!
Lately, I have been mixing stripe shirts with print skirts. If you follow me on Instagram, you would have seen different takes of my work styles with mixing prints. I also shared a glimpse of this outfit. For the outfit, I used the skirt as a base for the whole look. I toyed around with cobalt blue and green on the skirt. To make the colors more obvious, I completed the look with my Jean Cazabat pumps (previous see here) & a statement Necklace with earrings.

Print & Check

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend. Did you get to watch the Golden Globes and red carpet event? I was really impressed by the beautiful gowns and Lupita Nyong'o wore a gown that looked absolutely amazing...definitely a great way to make a red carpet statement without being overboard. You can catch my entire Golden Globes red carpet recap on my Facebook page.

For this outfit post, I experimented with mixing patterns and prints. When mixing prints, it is great to focus on a common color or set of colors. In this post, the common colors are black and white. I mixed the checkered print shirt with a tweed print skirt. I love the classy and sexy appeal of the skirt with the added front slit. I accessorized with a bronze and metallic mixed necklace which blends well with the overall pattern and colors. I completed the look with a bag I love.

Party Style: Feather Skirt

Hi everyone! Hope your day is going well and for those hit with the freezing cold, hope you are staying warm. It has been extremely cold for the past couple of days. The temperature yesterday was in the single digits and this is rare in Maryland but definitely not new to me as I lived in Minnesota. Thankfully, I took these pictures before the weather changed.

Still in a festive spirit after the holidays, I took my Ann Taylor feather skirt for a test run. It is very soft and comes with an elastic waist…love the color. It is definitely great for a date or fun party with friends. There are so many options to pairing the skirt. I chose a simple off-shoulder top with complementing pumps and a coat. I cinched the waist with a gold and black belt.

Emerald Fantasy

Hi everyone! Happy New Year again! Hope you all had a nice break. We ushered in the New Year at church while attending our annual night-watch service. Surprisingly, baby Nolan was awake and I gave him a big New Year kiss. Later in the day, we spent time with family members cooking and eating. It always feels special spending the holidays with family members. Of course, you are also part of my big family and I wish you good health and prosperity in 2014.
This is my first outfit post for the year. I love the pencil skirt and the details from the pockets to the buttons. The emerald mix makes it a bit festive without overbearing.  I chose the black top and pumps for a simple and classy look while completing the look with a statement emerald necklace.
