Hi beautiful people! My long weekend begins today - so ready for the Thanksgiving break and some good family time. We will be visiting my parents for the holiday and it will be my “food cheat day”. What are your plans for the break? Other than visiting my parents and some friends, I intend to stay indoors and start my Christmas decorations while catching up on TV reruns of Homeland. Are you a fan of the show?
The outfit in this post shows my continued love of mixing prints as shown in previous posts and will be featured in subsequent ones. I wore the gap pant earlier in the year but this time, I decided to pair with “grid” patterns. I tried to keep the whole outfit simple and when mixing prints, I love to combine prints with common colors and solid backgrounds.
I am excited for the holiday season. With the holiday around the corner, it means that it is time to get some shopping going. The early you start you Christmas shopping, the less overwhelmed you will be. From now and the coming weeks, I will be posting different gift ideas for him, her, babies, coworkers and more. So, if you are not sure what to get, I have lots of ideas with different price ranges for you to choose from.
Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend and what are your plans for the Thanksgiving break? Did you get to watch the American Music Awards? Thoughts? I could not understand Miley Cyrus’ performance. I loved Ciara’s fashion choice and congratulations to Rihanna on her first ICON Award. I watched the awards with Nolan playing next to me and you would not believe his reaction when Ariana Grande started singing; He stopped talking and focused on the TV. Of course, she has a beautiful voice similar to Mariah Carey’s.
The weather has really changed and it is getting much colder. When it was warm, I took my “Duro Olowo” set out - love the prints and colors. The colors are perfectly suited for the fall and also applicable to the spring and summer. I decided to pair both prints with my burgundy pumps and a red coat for fall tone. I completed the look with a beige bag to offset the colors. If you feel like pairing both prints will not work, you can pair with a green or burgundy top/bottom.
As I am typing this post, I am sitting with Nolan – both wearing our pajamas and watching the American Music Awards. I will be tweeting and posting red carpet pictures on my Facebook. That is the way my Sunday evening will be. As the holiday approaches, I love to lounge around in pajamas especially after a full meal. I think it is about time that I stock up on cute pajamas including some festive ones.
Staying healthy before and during my pregnancy really helped me get back in shape after delivery. This included a routine of fitness exercises and a healthy diet. My Pilates exercises were modified at each stage of my pregnancy and I continued until Nolan’s birth. While pregnant, I walked a mile or two during lunch breaks which included climbing approximately 100 stairs (6 – 7 floors). Though I had some cravings during my pregnancy, I tried to maintain a healthy eating habit. Some of my cravings included mangoes, okra soup and lots of pina colada.
After delivery, I used a belly girdle which was pretty helpful but what I attribute mostly to my post pregnancy weight loss is breast feeding. I breast fed my baby exclusively and the more I continued, the more I noticed a weight loss and ironically, my appetite increased. As a result, I ate smaller portions and stayed away from junk foods. About 3 months later, I switched to moderate carbs with more proteins and veggies.
Currently, I am enrolled in a group fitness class which includes Zumba dance routines, energetic weight training and “kick, punch and jab” energizing cardio sessions. I try to exercise consistently and monitor what I eat based on availability and practicability. I drink a lot of water and below is my current meal plan.
Ø Cereal (Honey Bunches of Oats with Almond milk)
Ø Omelet with egg whites
Ø Wheat bread (no more than 2 slices with 1 boiled eggs)
Ø Greek yogurt with fruits or granola, almonds & walnuts mixed
Ø Rice with veggies (broccoli, string beans, cauliflower, mixed vegetables)
Ø Chicken (boiled or baked) with veggies
Ø Fish with rice & veggies
Ø Salad and chicken (love Chicken Caesar salad)
Ø Rice with efo or egusi (Traditional vegetable soup)
*Usually I eat 1-1/2 cup/s of rice…brown rice preferably
Hi everyone, hope your week is going well. Wednesdays bring excitement to me as the hump day tells me the weekend is almost here. My weekends are always spent with the family. Since I spend most of the weekdays at work, I use the weekends for quality family time especially with Nolan. Thanksgiving holiday is next Thursday and I am looking forward to the holiday. I am also hoping that we will get our Christmas tree then.
My love for all things with fall colors especially burgundy continues. Yesterday, I wore a burgundy skirt to work, which I posted on my Instagram. I usually Instagram and tweet my daily work style…check it out! ;) I love the length of this asos skirt and the slit adds some sexiness to it. Playing off from the burgundy skirt, I added a JCrew plaid shirt with deep fall hues. I completed the look with classic black pumps.
Over the weekend, I received my monthly subscription ofInStyle Magazine. I was stunned by the gorgeous spread featuring Lupita Nyong'o. You probably have seen lots of posts about her red carpet style on my Facebook. She is an excellent actress with Kenyan heritage. The Yale university graduate is very beautiful and has a great physique. She is starring in the movie 12 Years A Slave. We will definitely be seeing a lot of her in movies and making her fashion mark on the red carpet.
Hi everyone! How was your weekend? Mine was chill and relaxing. Nolan turned 5 months old on Sunday. My baby is getting so big—time flies! I posted some pictures we took on my instagram and Facebook. On Sunday evening, hubby and I went to see “The Best Man” movie. It was awesome, funny and emotional – I highly recommend it. As Christmas draws closer, I am getting excited with regards to decorations.
This outfit post continues with my love for full skirts. With the bright neon skirt, just like in my previous post with neon pink skirt here, I chose a chambray shirt to tone down the color. My goal is to keep the shirt as the focus. I completed the look with a leopard clutch and pumps for an edgy appeal.
Hi everyone, happy Wednesday! It seems the week went by so fast; especially, since Monday was a public holiday to honor veterans who have given so much. Their services will never be forgotten.
You probably have noticed an influx of pink from the runways to street styles. This fall, there is a call to “Think Pink!”—a great way to infuse color into the cold and dark winter. If you are not into bright or neon pink colors, you can try pastel pink as I previously wore here. I have never been “pink obsessed”, but I love a combination of pink with any edgy item or print. With this outfit, I chose my favorite Asos neon skirt and combined it with a chambray shirt to tone down the bright look while giving the overall look an edgy one.
Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend. We spent Saturday indoors and on Sunday, paid a surprise visit to a friend. It was fun catching up with her and she got to meet Nolan. I am getting ready for the Thanksgiving break and even more excited for Christmas. Our family members will be spending the holidays with us. We spent last Christmas in Canada and I am looking forward to this year’s as it promises to be fun filled.
I am intrigued with checkers and plaid prints and I love the blend of colors on this Asos checkered suit- great mixture of fall colors. I chose a navy blue blouse to complement the two shades of blue on the suit while adding a feminine touch with the bow. The neutral accessories completed the look by softening the colors.

Hi guys! How is your week going so far? Mine has been great. I am gradually getting back to my exercise regimen. I took a great “kick” class earlier this week. I love the mix of kicking, punching and cardio infusion with music. My arms and legs are still sore; but it is for a great cause, huh—team fit mom! ;)
The focus of this outfit is the leopard pencil skirt. I previously wore the skirt weeks ago and posted a picture on my instagram page. This time, I switched it up by adding a bit of color with the cami. Cobalt blue is a great color to compliment any leopard pattern. It brightens up the neutral tone outfit without being overbearing. Definitely, a great color to add to your fall wardrobe.
Hello beautiful people! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Besides a baby shower on Saturday, my weekend was relaxing with lots of playtime with Nolan.
My baby now laughs so loud that you can hear his voice from downstairs. I posted a short video on my instagramof our fun moment after church. He was giggling and played so hard that he fell asleep minutes after I took the video. This gave me enough time to prep for the week with regards to the blog. Prepping includes setting up blog posts and sometimes getting my outfits ready.
For this outfit, I paired my express color blocked sweater with a JCrew pencil skirt. Pencil skirts are a big part of my work style and I love the grey mix of this skirt. Pairing different shades of grey is a great way to add twists to the usual black /grey work outfits-- keeps your work style fun.
I am constantly looking for baby items for Nolan. Right now, baby gap is one of my favorite places to shop for him. Last week, I posted a picture of Nolan wearing this gap checkered shirt on my instagram…love it! Another thing that I can't stop loving is my 4moms stroller. The best way to describe it is, technology meets fashion. With one push of a button, it unfolds itself. I also love that it has phone charging outlet.
As Nolan is getting closer to the stage where he will start sitting on his own, I am current craving the fresco bloom high chair and it comes it different colors ;)
