Keeping It Casual

Casual, comfortable, affordable; they’re not exactly the kind of words that spring to mind when one thinks fashion. ‘Keeping in vogue’ is notorious for being a kind of self-torture, in which we inflict upon ourselves killer heels, corsets and nightmare jeans.

Laid-back, however, can look kind of fantastic when it’s done right. It’s all a matter of ensuring that whatever you wear, you’re wearing it the right way.

Shoes

Okay, so sometimes the Louis Vuitton’s aren’t the most convenient of footwear, but what’s the alternative when you’re out and about?

Well, there are plenty of casual shoes that are trending thanks to their versatility of design. Converse footwear is a classic sneaker design that is currently finding its way into a whole host of celebrity ensembles, looking great with leggings and jeans alike. The low-cuts work really well with summer dresses (sockless, of course).

If you’re feeling brave, try sporting some suede shoes - think Puma or Nike - for something a little different. They look extra sweet with a pair of skinny jeans and an off-the-shoulder tee. They’re also perfect for keeping up appearances while out on a summer morning jog. Of course, sandals are one of the best summer options.

Jeans

Summer is coming to a close, so it’s time to consider how you’re going to make the swap between the skirts back to the skinnies for the fall. No need to ditch color, though - pastel jeans are a fantastic way to give your casual style a little extra flavor.

DKNY unleashed some killer pastel jeans at the end of spring that embody a superb minimalist look. Superdry’s selection is also highly recommended. Currently trending are mint green pastels, which work perfectly with a light top and ankle boots.

Dresses

Never underestimate the power of the floral print. Coming up to the new academic year, the big contenders are bright summer tones (think yellows and turquoises, people) against the black & white trend that poked its head out around March time.

If you’re going for the duochrome, spots look uber slick if you can pull them off. Brandish a pair of bright leggings to add a splash of colour to the outfit - it could even be worth sporting the mint greens - and top it off with a pair of classic Toms.

However you do it, make sure you make the most of what’s left of summer with a super chic, laid-back style. It can help you bridge the gap to autumn wear too, so don’t be sad that the sun is on its way out; think of the jackets!

Small Changes To Freshen Up Your Look

Every so often you feel like you need a new look; perhaps a hair cut or new lipstick. To make an impact you don’t need to go Lady Gaga drastic, sometimes simple is the key.

Check out these few tips to help create a new you!

Create bright eyes

A problem for most women is bags under the eyes. Trying to conceal the shadows with tonnes of make-up is not the answer though – you need to apply the right eye make up too.

  • Use smooth eye cream and a good concealer that will cover up the dark circles.
  • Apply pale eye shadow just under the eyebrow. This will instantly make the eyes look brighter and fresh. If you’re not one for eye shadow, using brilliant volumising mascara will instantly make you look more awake.
  • For a night out, false lashes are brilliant. Simply apply liquid or pencil eyeliner to cover the lash roots.
  • If your eyes are tired and red, perk them up with an over the counter eye bath solution or use luke-warm water to calm and relax.

A-list style hair

We all have hair envy over celebrities like Jennifer Aniston who always manages to leave the house with glossy, effortless hair.

  • Liven up the colour. Make sure you pick a colour within two or three shades of your natural tint for a complementary tone against your skin.
  • Hair is 98% protein and 2% moisture so if your hair is regularly subjected to dying or heat styling then you need to condition it. Deep conditioning is important as it lifts the cuticle allowing for maximum penetration and eliminating the hair from product build up. Invest in a fantastic conditioning lotion that will leave your hair soft and shiny.
  • A secret to phenomenal hair is to use a hot oil treatment once a month. Indulge your hair into this luxury spa by simply applying an oil mask. Leave it on for 30 minutes then wash out; you’ll have lovely moisturised hair.
  • Try out a new style. Haircuts can put life and bounce back into your locks. Layers provide volume to thin hair and thick hair can be tamed with an undercut that thins. Put hair up in the sun to protect from rays or a simple plait is on trend for the festival period.

BABY ITEMS

Baby Loves

My son is almost 8 Weeks Old and I am always searching for baby clothes and items. I will be using this medium to share some items that I love and admire.

The Mama Roo swing is amazing -- baby Nolan loves it. I also love the traveling kid’s box. My husband and I love travelling and I can't wait for Nolan to start dragging his own cute box through the airport.

Work Style: Turquoise Suit

Uzo0019-2588271741-O
Hi everyone! Hope you are all doing great. I still enjoy looking at the pictures I took while pregnant with Nolan. Sometimes, I can't believe he is here already--feels like yesterday when we were ecstatic after finding out we were going to be parents. I wore this outfit to a friend's birthday dinner and a couple of hours later, I gave birth to baby Nolan.

Thanks to my use of a belly band, the turquoise suit in this post fitted well with my baby bump. I purchased it because I love colored suits. Here is a link to one of my favorite colored suits and a Zara mustard suit.  I see my post-baby style with a dress shirt besides white for this suit -- maybe more preppy with my stiletto heels which I miss :)
