Abstract Floral

DSC_8984-1969680564-O

Hi guys! Another week is almost over and a long weekend awaits us. I don't have any plans besides packing and heading off to NYC for the IFBCon (International Fashion Blogger) event and other fashion events with some retail therapy. I am excited to be in the mist of fellow bloggers and fashion enthusiast. Who doesn't love New York and Fashion week?!!!

On another note, I had to go back in time for this outfit - worn it once in the last 2 years. A friend gave the dress to me as a gift and now, I can't stop loving the abstract floral details and the front zip. I love quirky outfits and details. From the frontal zip to the bold floral print, I was dressed and ready for an evening dinner with friends. Definitely a fun outfit to hang out with the ladies, I think. :)

On another note, last night, I finally opened and "instagramed" pictures of the items that I received from hubby on Saturday. If you remember, I promised that I would post the contents . Check it out my instagram and twitter...I am in love with my Michael Kors' bag. The color is right for fall.

What are your plans for the labor day weekend? Is anyone attending the IFBCon event or has anyone attended the event before? What was your experience like? If you will be there, email me and we can chat.

Isabel Marant Wedge Sneakers

Owning only a pair of converse, I might not be a fan of sneakers; but this Isabel Marant Bekett leather and suede sneaker is giving me a change of heart. Again the wedge creates a feeling wearing both heels and sneakers -- love it! I can't decide whether I love the blue or the black better, but I all can say is that I have my eyes on a pair.

Work Style: Neutral tone

PAO_6199-2041964520-O

Another day and a new work week...hello everyone! How was your weekend?

Like I mentioned in my previous post, I had a sweet tooth on Sunday. My Saturday morning was spent at work before heading straight to the gym for some stress reliever. I can't say that I love the gym, but I do have some occasional enjoyable moments. I love Pilates and always look forward to my private classes on Tuesdays.

PAO_6207-2041964701-O

Back to my weekend recap, I got home on Saturday to find a huge box from Michael Kors and a bag from JCrew. I guess hubby was paying attention when I mentioned that I needed to start stocking up on fall items. I posted the picture of the huge boxes on Instagram. I will post what was in the box later today on my instagram. If you want to know what I got...join me on Instagram (@jadorefashion). ;)

To those that prefer not to wear something colorful or bright to work, my outfit today incorporates a neutral tone. Whether you add color or not, always remember to add your style to work outfits since we spend most of our week days at work.

With peplum trending, this is a good way to wear any peplum top to work. Remember to keep it classy and simple because the cinched ruffle details of peplums already make a statement.

Zara peplum top (here & similar here)

Sunday Sweets

Hi everyone! Just checking in...how has your weekend been?

After Sunday service, hubby and I went grocery shopping. Please note, never go grocery shopping when you are hungry because you will end up buying the whole store and that is exactly what happened. Besides buying some junk food, I bought a pancake mix, caramel syrup, ice cream and lots of fruits.

Today, I am sharing pictures that represent my Sunday evening and what I ended up cooking ;)

My newly acquired statement necklaces from Macy's and BarIII.

Before I kicked off my shoes and headed to the kitchen for my cooking experiment ;)

Inspired by this house decorations and colors

Getting my strawberries and blueberries ready. I recently started liking blueberries, but strawberries and I are BFFs. :)

I experimented and created my own 'desert', which included sliced tomates, blueberries and strawberries.

At the end of my experiment and Sunday sweet craving, I ended up making pancakes filled with berries, bananas and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday, while I satisfy my tooth and finish up my pancakes.

Thank you for reading...Have a lovely week ahead!

Floral Direction

DSC_6215-1927737460-O

Hey loves! Happy Thursday! Friday is around the corner and so is the weekend. :)
DSC_6227-1927737859-O

With my casual outfit today, I am enjoying what is left of summer even though I am longing for fall clothes. This feeling has prompted me to start stocking up on fall sweaters and colors. For fall 2012, my mind is engulfed in anything burgundy, red, black and sweaters with animal characters or funny faces and prints.

What are you looking forward to this fall?

If you are on Facebook and/or Instagram, don't forget to join me here & here (@jadorefashion). I always post more pictures, trends, inspiring quotes, behind the scenes of my daily life and pilates ;)

Lately, I have been eating healthy but I still get comments from my friends that I eat a lot. Sometimes I wonder if this is a result of my fast metabolism as I am 'always' hungry. With how much I eat, I wonder where all the food goes to...LOL! Thanks to my Pilates trainer Everlea for kicking my behind with those machines.

My Peplum Style

PAO_2250-2023233632-O

Hello beautiful people! How was your weekend? I had a lazy weekend, which was great because I have been working most Saturdays and I forgot what it felt like to be home on a Saturday morning. Unfortunately, I slept through most of the morning and when I woke up, I was glued to my laptop...life of blogger huh! LOL ;) Well, my "lazy" weekend did not prevent me from making one of my favorite dish Okra soup, which I shared the recipe here.

PAO_2210-2023232945-O

On the other hand, you might have noticed the explosion of peplums from Spring 2012 runway shows. Well, if the Spring 2012 was an indication of peplum rebirth, Fall 2012 is its continuation--this cinched waist, flared trend is here to stay--at least for now.

Asos Polka dot & peplum by www.jadore-fashion

For me, it all started with my constant prophecy about peplum tops on my facebook and twitter, now I have finally found one of my favorite pair. This asos pair fits perfectly--so elegant and chic. I love the flared ruffle and specifically the deep navy color tone making it versatile for the upcoming fall. It is easy to embrace this trend. What better way to show off your curves, accentuate your waist and still look classy!

A taste of Nigeria: Okra Soup

Like I mentioned on twitter and Instagram, I prepared Okra soup last night. This is a Nigerian delicacy in which okra is thickened into soup. This is one of my favorite soup to make and eat.

Here are pictures and my recipe...

Ingredients:
  1. Okra
  2. Palm Oil
  3. Choice of meat -- I used goat meat
  4. Onions
  5. Crayfish
  6. Habanero Peppers
  7. Spinach
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Seasoning: Knorr cube

Chopped Okra

Chopped onions

Chopped Spinach

Glance of some of the items that I used including "ground hot pepper", salt and knorr cube seasoning. On the top left is the blended crayfish and habanero peppers.

Cooking process
  1. Cut the okras into tiny pieces
  2. Chop the onions
  3. Cut the spinach into tiny pieces. If you are using frozen spinach, defrost and cut it into tiny pieces
  4. Blend the habanero pepper and crayfish
  5. Cook the goat meat until it is well done. Add the blended habanero peppers and crayfish and boil for an additional 20mins
  6. In a separate pot, pour the red palm oil and let it heat up. Add the diced onions and okra and fry until the "draw effect" of the okra kicks in. This process will last less than 5 minutes.
  7. Add the chopped spinach and stir well before adding the cooked meat and broth.
  8. Cover the pot and let it simmer for 10-15minutes and it is ready to serve.
**Updates: To cook the goat meat, just add water, pepper and salt for taste. You can always add more water until you feel the meat is tender or well done.

This the Okra soup with the visible meat :)

Here is the Okra soup served alone or with pounded yam

Have you tried this before or any dish outside your culture?

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Asos African Print

DSC_7889-1969671881-O

Hello beautiful people! How has your week been so far?

DSC_7864-1969670916-O

I am engulfed in vacation feelings while maintaining a presence at work. I don't know how long this feelings will last--the need for more vacation rings in my ear as I anticipate my next adventure, which is not anytime soon. However, I am looking forward to a trip to New York in September for the IFBCON event. Is anyone going? Please email me. Looking forward to a room filled with bloggers and fashion insiders while anticipating my first visit to San Diego for a wedding. All San Diego bloggers, please email me if you will like to meetup for lunch or coffee.

Asos Africa by www.jadore-fashion

Now back to my outfit. You might be wondering why my outfit looks like a self-made African print like the previous African prints worn. A friend of mine also wondered if it was self made. Well, while not self made, it is definitely an African print... Asos Africa Print.

Asos Africa details by www.jadore-fashion

As you know, I like to infuse my culture into my style for example, a modern take on African prints or tribal prints like the one worn here. Talking about tribal prints, I have been eying this Aztec print romper from asos, which has been sitting in my cart for days. I see myself wearing it with brogues before the weather changes.

Zara Fall 2012 Lookbook

I know the fall season isn't here but my body is itching for it -- beautiful leaves,  cooler temperatures and the smell of fall just reminds me of the 'harmattan' season in Nigeria (Nov-Dec.) . Sometimes I have this nostalgic feeling and memories of my childhood i.e. running in the yard wearing my 'Care Bears' pajamas, morning fogs and days leading to Christmas--these are some of my cherished memories

On another note, going through the "Zara Fall 2012 Lookbook" gave me an euphoric feeling...an unexplainable joy...the Aha! moment. It is hard to decide which outfit or pieces I love most but, I can definitely say that my fall wardrobe will be filled with leather, laces, peplums and cozy knits just like the ones in these pictures. The pearls details is the skirt and top is simply amazing--I heart it!
Leather mania--I am leather obsessed at the moment. I want both skirts ;)
As much as I dislike turtlenecks, this sweater looks so comfy.
Love the androgynous silhouettes!
Peplums are here to stay--love the peplum with lace details!
What are your favorite pieces?
